Innovative Container Lift Crane, Storage, Customization, and Transportation.
Grand Rapids Construction
Grand Rapids Construction transforms conex containers provided by Orbital into rolling warehouses to be used on their construction sites to store supplies and equipment. Each container stores what is needed for that particular job, saving employees time driving back and forth from the warehouse to the site every time they need something. These are also secure containers that can keep everything in one place eliminating equipment getting misplaced or supplies taken off the job site. The containers can also be used as a mobile office, meeting room or break container so essential personnel can be on site to oversee the job progress. Orbital can custom engineer the container to the specifications needed and electrical, windows, locking doors, heating, a/c, and vents can be added. Grand Rapids Construction has the containers made and loaded at their warehouse then Orbital delivers the fully loaded containers to the specified location on the construction site.
As the job progresses, the logistics of the construction site change and the mobile warehouses may not be in close proximity to where the work is now being performed. When this happens, employees have to waste valuable time transporting what they need. They either have to find an available truck to drive to the location or they have to walk to the container every time something is needed. These trips can be made multiple times during the workday resulting in wasted man hours and a delay to job completion. And because these containers are fully stocked any tilting of the trailer during the move could cause damage to the contents. An option is using a crane to move the container but the company would have to provide the equipment and make the site accessible and clear a path to the new location.
Grand Rapids Construction calls Orbital when a container needs to be transported to a new location on the job site. Orbital’s mobile sidelifter crane has the ability to level lift a conex container and since there is very limited tilting during loading and unloading, the contents are safe. Employees do not have to spend time moving or securing materials in the container before it is moved. The crane can easily maneuver around a job site to the specified new location. This can be done multiple times during the duration of the job keeping the onsite warehouse in close proximity to the job increasing the efficiency of the workers. The only prep work required is to shim the site at the new location for level if needed. Orbital can reposition the containers with minimal disruption to the workday and no assistance needed from the onsite employees.
